Leanne Petty should be a familiar voice to many listeners in the area. She's been on Triad radio for more than 16 years, leaving only once for four years to accompany her husband back to his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, and be a full-time mom-- a job Leanne says is much harder than radio!
Leanne grew up in Durham, NC, and radio must have been in her future because she says she fell asleep every night with her AM transistor radio on the pillow beside her, tuned always to the sweet soul sounds of 1490 WSSB. She got bitten by the radio bug again during her time at Western Carolina University, where her first on-air gig was doing the afternoon news on WWCU-FM, the 10-watt blowtorch of the Tuckasegee Valley. She worked at stations in Durham before relocating in 1983 to the Triad. During her radio career, she has been named to the NC Associated Press Board of Directors and is also in the Writers' Hall of Fame of the Home Furnishings Industry.
Leanne has been married for 13 years to her husband, Pat, has a 8-year-old son, John, and an 12-year-old black Lab named Boo. She likes music, movies, trains, travel and good food (Leanne, not the dog!).
